Before I knew it, I was grilling the salted offal that the customer had placed on the grill.
“Hey, customer, this is how you grill offal!” I blurted out and reached over.
Of course, from the customer’s perspective, it was pure confusion: “Who is this guy!?”
The staff suddenly started grilling the meat, and honestly, the customer was quite taken aback.
Even so, I served it saying, “It’s delicious cooked this way, so please give it a try.”
The customer hesitantly agreed, “Well, I suppose I’ll try it,” and took a bite.
The next moment—
“Mmm!” exclaimed the female customer, her eyes widening. “What is this!?” the male customer exclaimed in surprise.
Seeing their reactions, I silently pumped my fist in triumph.
It was the moment the “Grill Master Style” had been accepted.
Soon, a voice rang out from the next table: “Excuse me, could you grill ours too?”
“Coming right up!” I replied, as the restaurant instantly erupted into battlefield-like chaos.
Calls came from the kitchen too: “Bro, we’re backed up on orders!” Floor and kitchen staff were now working at full throttle.
But in that moment, I knew for sure.
This, I thought, is the Kuro5 way.
We were incredibly excited by the first major breakthrough since opening.
After closing that day, we stayed behind, cheering wildly with shochu in hand.
“Are we going to grill all the customers’ meat from now on?”
“If we do that, we’ll need to hire more staff.”
“How will we handle the operations?”
Perhaps because we were tired, or maybe the alcohol had taken its toll, we got completely drunk, and the discussion grew heated.
But that night, letting our guard down, we… ended up causing an unbelievable incident…
